Laurence James

The driving pen behind one of the great post-apocalyptic action sagas, written under a famous house name.

Laurence James was a prolific British author who wrote the bulk of the long-running Deathlands series — published under the house name James Axler — following Ryan Cawdor and his band of survivors across a savage, nuke-blasted future America via teleporting redoubts. Fans often regard his run as the heart of the series. Earlier, he created the galactic secret agent Simon Rack.

A full-time freelance writer across many genres, James brought relentless pace and pulp gusto to post-apocalyptic adventure. His Deathlands books are lean, violent, and built for momentum. Expect mutant menaces, brutal action, and a grim, vividly imagined wasteland. As always, the individual book pages are the best guide to each title's setting, tone, and content — every entry is content-rated and age-guided so you know exactly what you're getting into.
