Gav Thorpe
A prolific war-poet of the grimdark, equally at home among space marines and ancient elves.
Gav Thorpe is a prolific British author and former games developer who became one of Black Library's cornerstone writers, shaping huge swaths of the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy / Age of Sigmar fiction lines. A veteran of the games-design world, he understands these universes from the inside out.
His output is enormous: the Last Chancers penal-legion novels, major Horus Heresy entries including Deliverance Lost, the Eldar-focused Path of the Eldar trilogy, and a long shelf of stories across both grim futures and grimmer fantasy pasts. He's especially noted for fleshing out the elegant, alien Aeldari and for handling huge military canvases with confidence.
Expect dark, action-driven storytelling steeped in the lore of perpetual war. Thorpe is a strong pick for readers deep in the Warhammer universes who want an author with both the institutional knowledge and the craft to deliver — a writer who's helped build these worlds as much as he's written within them.
