His anger overwhelmed him; putting his family in danger was the last straw. However, unknown to him and the sixteen human planets a far more sinister threat loomed over them, and the odds of survival were miniscule at best. Vasily knew the sixteen planets had to be removed as a threat before this new terror could be faced. What he didn't know was he was making a huge mistake that would lead to the destruction of Courageous.Excerpt: The War for Courageous 2“Frequency is open, Commander.”Vasily sat forward on his chair and said, “I wish to communicate with you. We are no danger to you and wish you absolutely no harm.”Vasily sat back and waited. The computer announced, “I have ten warships moving in front of us two light hours out.” Vasily nodded and waited. A moment later the computer announced, “They’ve come to a stop.”Vasily nodded and waited. Two minutes later, they heard, “I do find it difficult to believe you are no danger to us.”“That’s because of everything that’s happened to you before coming here!” Vasily replied. “You are not the only peaceful species out here.”“You make a good point. However, I trust you won’t be offended if we take precautions.”“I’m activating the exterior lights on my ship and if you want you may send your warships out to surround my ship.”There was a long pause and they heard, “I don’t think that’s necessary. I suspect if you were worried about them you wouldn’t make the offer.”Vasily smiled, “You are quite wise. My name is Vasily.”The alien on the monitor replied, “My name is Mauk. Why do you want to communicate with us?”“I’ve determined you are organized to make a quick escape. I want to know why.”“You do pose a threat to us.”“That’s not the reason and you know it! If we were a threat, I wouldn’t be out here trying to learn your language; we’d have just attacked you!” Vasily paused and said, “Look, you’re frightened by something and you have to believe whatever it is; it’s going to come here.” Vasily’s statement was followed by a long silence and he finally asked, “Why are you reluctant to tell me?”“Because there’s nothing you can do to stop it. That’s why we’re here.”“You couldn’t stop it, right?”"No, we couldn’t. The ships here are all that remains of my civilization that once flourished in another galaxy.”“Will you share with me what happened…..please!”“You’re better off not knowing.”“Show me anyway.”“I’m going to start sending recordings of what happened to my planets. Let me know when you’ve seen enough.”“Record this, Computer!” Vasily ordered. The first images appeared on the wall monitor and Vasily and Opel descended into hell.Settle back and be ready for twists and turns that will have your head spinning.
