Thurkad has fallen and Karan, driven into madness by a forbidden spell, is left for dead. Her dearest friend, Llian the Tale-spinner, is abducted by the renegade Aachim leader, Tensor, who plans to use the Twisted Mirror for an act of millennial vengeance.
