Alex Balfour is once again ripped from his present and thrown into the past. Previous adventures have found him in Russia during the Revolution, at Custer's Last Stand, at Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima, aboard the Titanic, and at Lincoln's assassination. Now, Alex finds himself in New York City in 1910, where the inventions of Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla have profound and dangerous reverberations in his own time. Alongside his old friend Mark Twain, his wife Molly and his son Max from a time he hasn't yet lived, Alex Balfour fights to save the future.
