First (and only English language) edition. Robert Hoskins (1933 - 1993) was an American science fiction writer; this is his first SF novel. The idea has been worked over before but Hoskins does a briskly efficient job -- palace intrigues in an imperial civilization that gets rid of troublemakers by shipping them off to a harsh alien planet in a state of amnesia. The narrative flashes neatly between the two planets.
