Synopsis

Prince Hepittiani, son of the Pharaoh, is dead. The young boy must now prepare himself for his journey along the Path of the Lotus. His protector, the goddess Muii, daughter of the cat goddess Bastet, was unable to protect the boy. Now, the prince must survive the dangerous journey along the Path of Lotus and come to the Halls of Osiris where he will have his final judgment. If he should fail, he will lose his chance to enter paradise, and be forced to be reborned in the mortal world. However, the great god Re sends the goddess Muii, to help the prince in his travels. Together, they must battle their way across the six providences which make up the lands of the dead. The young prince is also given help, by Thoth, god of wisdom and knowledge. It comes in the form of a magical tablet which will show spells and incantations. The boy, by using the correct spells, is able to call forth everything he will need in order to complete his journey. Prince Hepittiani uses Thoth’s tablet to create a magical bow to fight against the creatures which the gods are commanded to send against the travelers. In this way the boy’s Ka is tested in both strength and knowledge. But not all tests use weapons. Some of the tests are designed to test the boy’s knowledge in form of puzzles and mazes. It is up to the prince to solve these obstacles. The boy is not the only member of the group who is to be tested. The goddess Muii is also to be tested along the Path of the Lotus. The fate of the young cat goddess, because of her failure to protect Hepittiani, is linked to the prince. If he fails she will be destroyed. Even the gods and goddesses can be destroyed along the great path. Together, along with another traveler, Mossan, they travel the roads and paths of Khert-Neter, the afterlife. The Path of the Lotus is a novel of 82,000 words and contains an active Table of Contents.
