Synopsis

In the normal course of things, the invention of the matter duplicator would not have proved fatal to the human civilization: a severe economic crisis, followed by a world of incredible wealth, would have been the result. But the duplicators were not invented here; rather they were secretly introduced into an unready culture by aliens bent on conquest and colonization. The plan was to present themselves at the height of the turmoil as Humanity's saviors, and the plan worked. By the late 21st century, the aliens ruled Earth with an iron claw. But since the beginning of the Cweom-jik rule, a human underground descended from scientific research centers has toiled desperately to regain Man's heritage. Now they are ready to properly thank the birdlike aliens for all their help.
