Barrington Oaks is the Estate of the wealthy Barrington family during the mid 1930's. The husband, Edmond, brow beaten by his wife, Victoria, and their spoiled arrogant son, Donay', is in a fight to save his family. Although his son was sent to England to escape jail for the rape of a young girl they are now faced with the possible death of Donay' by a greedy freighter ship Captain, Hebrew Web. Their son has vanished and in the middle of their search a young maid, Katie, is found brutally murdered. Edmond calls on the help of a Cherokee woman,Sullivan Shantie, reknown in the field of criminal investigations. She and her large black dog, Oliver, try to find Donay' but find themselves fighting for their own lives aboard Web's ship,The Sea Watcher. Edmond's Solicitor arrives in America and when Sullivan learns his reason of being here things really turn deadly! Sullivan is finding evidence against everyone, even Edmond. One set up after another when the one character she least expects to be involved is the Master Mind behind everything. There's one person she's never trusted, Sheriff Clay. Almost too late he becomes the only man who can save her!
