Synopsis

A unique mummy book where the mummy becomes discovered by archaeologists working in Egypt. He is obedient to an evil mastermind who can become invisible and strangles his victims (for the high priest Phahmes). He becomes a servant to Dr. Belleville. Its themes border on spiritualism, the occult, black magic and the mystery of life after death. "It fairly out-Poes Poe in the region of weird impossibilities" (New York Times). Weird romantic adventure novel "involving spiritualism, the occult, black magic, and the implication, at least, of an elixir of life." - Clareson "Strong on incident, but otherwise without merit."- Bleiler
