Synopsis

Sam had thought that it was all over, that the evil Stone on the hill had now left him in peace. He thought he could forget the stories about the Stone that had kept him awake and trembling all all night long. But then he found the old leather book with yellowing pages written by old witch and learnt the full horror - that as the shadow of the Stone grew longer, so the evil would grow. Three people would die and he would be one of them. And as he looked out of his window he saw the lengthening shadow of the Stone slowly reaching out towards his farm. But it was no shadow - it was the long coiled body of a vast serpent. He felt the touch of it on his throat, felt the choking grasp of its coils.... This enthralling book is the sequel to The Fear of Samuel Watson, which was a runner-up for The Young Observer Fiction Award, 1984.
