The future: mass unemployment, cancer, the squabbles of nation states - all are things of the past. And in space, the hub, a successful colony, has been established. But it is hardly utopia. Lunatic sects abound, the vast suburban stacks are riddled with violent no go areas, and cancer has been replaced by organ implosion - which is much much worse. Turner is a reclaimer, his job to rescue and deprogramme victims of the far out religions. But his latest case leads him into the rarified corridors of power, and ultimately to the hub.
