Synopsis

"THE House of Fulfilment" is the story of two journeys--a physical one to a Tibetan monastery and back again, through a relay of perils, and a spiritual one that proves even more breathlessly exciting. It is a trip crowded with manifold beauties, so intense that they would be cloying save for the broad sweep of the story and Mrs. Beck's never-failing sense of every-day reality. Brynhild Ingmar, the lovely sculptress; Cardonald, carrying to India the weight of a great disloyalty; Lord and Lady Dunbar, gracious hosts of the strangest of mansions; the mountain-climbing philosopher Haridas; these are real people all. To make their journey with them is not only to read a love story of unique beauty, but also to understand the wisdom of the East.
