Synopsis

The setting is the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The year is 2002, summer. A woman is back to claim her heritage on the old Trace trail. Gently, she climbs her mountain. The hill people think she's looking for things they have hidden. Whiskey. A big Raven, a shape-changer, follows and protects her. She's watched by the Old Ones. She's not afraid. Her ancestors wouldn't hurt her, one of their blood, now would they? Ha. The Raven keeps her. Love abounds. Children are born with funny eyes. Happiness. Then comes bad luck. An electric field admits crossovers from a hundred and fifty years ago. People are killed and some are taken prisoner and back into time. Sheriff calls it murder. But Charles and Willie know better. The trails of yesterday are calling them to find their people.
