Synopsis

Eloise Popescu has finally put her life on track as an adult – no more youthful screw-ups. But then she receives a one-way ticket to San Francisco to meet the father she has never known … and thinks it’s some kind of good idea to actually get on the plane. Hanes Reynolds has had his career as an oceanographer at UC-Berkeley come to an abrupt and bewildering end. He has good reason to think that Ms. Popescu is at the root of his troubles. What they both discover is that they’ve walked into the cross-fire of warring Chinese mafia families … and Eloise seems to be a member of one of them. As Eloise and Hanes reluctantly join forces to escape the clans, they must learn to trust one another … or repeat the fatal mistakes they made the last time they were together in British Hong Kong. Join Eloise and Hanes on their scramble around the world from San Francisco to Bucharest, Romania and Hong Kong of the late nineteenth century and today.
