It is a quiet summer night in Castle Springs, Nevada, site of a government research project. Suddenly—the town explodes in a torrent of flame and death. FBI arson specialist Frank Merriman is called to investigate the holocaust that crippled the program to create a laser-activated bomb. His work goes smoothly—until he tells Washington that it was sabotage. Then someone begins trying to kill him. And when he finds himself stalked by a Soviet agent in place, he’s led to a computer called Chocolate—and a far more sinister operation than he’d ever dreamed of.
