Synopsis

A stunningly original and powerful story, this time-travel adventure is set in the turbulent times of Saxon England AD 915 and the Liverpool Blitz 1940. Separated by the width of a river and a thousand years, the boys Edgar and Roy are about to learn that without one another their riverside communities will be destroyed. King Alfred's warrior queen daughter, Ethelfleda, battles to take back the Saxon Kingdoms from the Vikings and fulfil her father's vision of a just society in a united kingdom. One thousand years later, an even more powerful enemy attacks, and England now stands alone between the dark forces and the rest of the world. This is a thought-provoking book, based on historical fact, which as well as relating the exciting tale of the children's brave struggle to save their respective communities, tells of their encounters with dark angels - the evil Necrotim - the fallen angels who covet Mankind's place in the scheme of things and who will do anything to tempt him to destroy himself. The book is 97,000 words in length and is suitable for all ages.
