An updated version of the novel by Brandon Rospond takes classic elements of sword and sorcery and puts a new twist on it in a world where everything is run by crystal-magic. A young man seeks answers about the death of his parents and a legacy he inherited that grants him great power if he can learn how to control harness it. In a world that thrives off the concept of magic-infused crystals, a young man by the name of Darkflare Omni finds himself heir to a rune that allows him to harness the power of fire. Upon conjuring his first spell, the lock upon which Darkflare’s long-sleeping memories of how his parents died and how his hometown was destroyed becomes unsealed. Despite now having answers that fill in large gaps of unaccounted for time, Darkflare is left with more questions. If his parents sealed the memories away, why did they suddenly unlock; and what does it mean that his dormant rune, that he always considered a birthmark, awakened now? Seeking answers and wanting to learn more about his newfound magic, Darkflare and his allies set off on a quest to stop the demonic Marked Ones, who have threatened to indoctrinate some of the lands’ nobles to their dark cause. This young man, who has lived a secluded life in the forgotten town of Crescentia, must learn what it means to embrace the company of others that walk alongside the path fate has laid out for them. He must learn to harness the power of his rune and find strength in being a dragoon!
