Four years after the barbarians destroyed his village, Darian returns from his sanctuary with the Tayledras Hawkbrothers to warn the rebuilt village that the barbarians are coming back. There he finds Keisha Alder, who uses her inborn Healing Gift for the good of the village even though her lack of formal training leaves her vulnerable.
