When a deep-sea probe investigating unexplained ship sinkings disappeared, people began to get nervous. When the authorities resorted to depth-bombing in retaliation against the unseen menace, the situation turned critical. The aliens attacked. Then Man fought back, and the alien assault was repelled. At least that's what everyone wanted to believe.
