Scully's dad mends and sells clocks, but he's actually a Wizard and Scully's mum can See into the future. Scully himself is a Wizard-in-waiting, a trainee. His test by the Outlandish Gentry is coming up and Scully still has lots of work to do. But how can he practice when he's been given a Minder to watch over him? She's called Monika and appears to be the model of efficiency, not magical at all. However, appearances can be deceptive and he's soon very thankful that he has a Minder, when he finds himself at the center of a perilous, spellbinding adventure in which the future of magic itself is at stake!
