The year is 2084 and the United States has fallen behind Europe, China and India. Thomas is an unemployed electrical engineer living north of Boston. He is offered a six month trial employment contract with Freeborn, a large London based financial conglomerate. Over the next several months, Thomas travels to France, Ohio, North Carolina, Austria, Zimbabwe, and the Ukraine troubleshooting problems in Freeborn operating companies. Along the way, Thomas ponders his relationship with God as he is illegally held in a mental hospital and later jail. But the world changes on Easter Day when an accidental nuclear war between India and China kills 100 million people and causes panic selling in the stock market. Freeborn brings Thomas to their London research laboratories where he is asked to make a risky jump back in time-through GodSpace--in order to prevent the accidental nuclear war and save the company from large financial losses. If he is successful, Thomas will be given permanent employment and his personal financial security will be assured.
