After his mother is killed in a bizarre fire, Jason Rainier is taken in by his uncle and raised in the shadows of the famous Rainier Traveling Carnival. Shy and reclusive, Jason wears a dark leather mask to cover part of his face and hide scars left from that fateful night. Despite his differences , he is accepted among the carnies and treated like family. Jason has little exposure to the outside world, until Gina, a lovely young reporter, helps bring him out of his shell and reveals the enigmatic man behind the mask. But when word of his amazing abilities begins to go viral, everyone he loves will be put in danger from powerful forces. Forces that wish to destroy Jason ... forces that know why he’s here ... forces all too aware of who the freak really is.
