Degolia, the fey witch, wants the throne of Oberon, which will soon be vacated by King Huon and Queen Mellefleur. But to claim it she needs a husband as consort and king--although she'll still wear the pants and hold the power. As mortals like King Huon (a former paladin of Charlemagne) and Thomas the Rhymer have made excellent kings of Faerie, she searches out a potential consort among them. The unlikely candidate is Martin Macadam, a teenager whose only qualification is having read Spenser's Faerie Queen among other fantasies. She has two weeks to turn a raw youth into king material, make him fall in love with her, and lead her army to victory over powerful rivals. Will she be able to pull this off? Faerie as you wish it could be!
