Synopsis

The true First Edition, preceding the 1958 World Publishing [London] paperback reprint. The UK learns of a Soviet military project which, if completed, would guarantee them strategic superiority in the Cold War. The decision is made to drop a single nuclear weapon on the Soviet's underground research facility in Siberia, where the technology is being developed. The risk of course is that the Soviets would retaliate on a much larger scale, thus precipitating World War III. The "X-factor" in this equation, however, is the RAF pilot leading the bombing mission. Will he be able to shoulder this potentially apocalyptic responsibility? Extinction Bomber is not only a thriller with relevance to our current world situation, but Hough has artfully populated the story with sympathetic three-dimensional characters. 192 pages.
