Synopsis

Set against the cityscapes of Paris and Amsterdam, in a series of interwoven narratives and multiple universes, Dream Space blends fact and fiction, Gothic and magic realism, in a world shaped by technology. Gabriel is mourning the loss of his home, a cemetery in Paris, which is being demolished to make way for a shopping mall. Turning to technology for an answer to the crisis, he designs a game on his wallet PC called Dream Space. The characters in this game are Collete, Edgar Degas, Vaslav Nijinsky, Sarah Bernhardt, Oscar Wilde and himself, Gabriel Kamon. The characters' spirits are awoken when their graves are opened and their coffins removed. Their task is to find a new resting place - Gabriel's is to discover his identity. Is he man or woman, black or white, dead or alive - and where does he come from? Meanwhile, in Amsterdam, Eve is having visions and flashbacks. Is she having a meltdown? Could it be something to do with meeting Jim Morrison? Most importantly of all, does she have a parallel life, and what happens when Gabriel and Eve's strange worlds collide? A chilling tale for the thrill seeker, Dream Space is dark and mysterious, a poetic meditation on the nature of reality and what it means to tell lies... It will appeal to fans of modern contemporary fiction with an innovative blend of historic references and Gothic and magical realism.
