"Down Town is the place for all the people and things, real and imaginary, that the Uptown world no longer has any use for. Whenever something's time is over Uptown, it ends up here." So The Poet says to cary Newman, who's gotten lost in New York's subways and found himself in Down Town, a strange and wonderful world where the forgotten still exists and where fantasy comes into flower. Lit by gaslamps and ruled by Robber Barons, guarded by the Tree at the Heart of the World, populated by Bag Ladies, Printers' Devils, and lost children, Down Town is in deadly peril. Cary Newman will need all his courage to save it.
