Synopsis

In this book which pays homage to the fundamental heroism of the human spirit, the mania of National Socialism clashes with the mystique of Judaism and the mystery that is Africa. On the fringes of a rain forest populated by lemurs and fossas, zebu and wild boar, the Nazi attempt to create a homeland for the Jews on Madagascar gets under way. Friend is pitted against friend, ego against alter-ego. Two Malagasy sorcerers complicate the game as they await the birth of the child each wishes to control for his own ends. On Nosy Mangabey, the island where the dead dream, darkness is falling. The long night of wartime has arrived. All of the inhabitants - Nazis, Jews and Africans alike - have become the Children of the Dusk.
