Discovering that her quest to destroy her brother and his puppetmaster was not as fulfilling as she had expected, Princess Bronwyn declines the throne of Tamlaght and retires to Londeac. There she finds that the love of her life is not all that she expected, either. In the pursuit of satisfaction, Bronwyn joins the eccentric Professor Wittenoom on a rocket trip to a disintegrating moon, through a transformation into a mermaid and finally to the secret island of superscientist Dr. Tudela and his plans for the creation of a new continent. Meanwhile, the adventures of Rykkla the circus girl and her search for the lost Thud take her from the harems of Ibraila to piracy to the underground kingdom of the Kobolds. The two adventures ultimately come together in a climax that is literally world-crashing.
