Synopsis

First edition bound in green cloth, frontis plate ills. A tight, clean copy with mild rubbing to the spine tips. The title page has long ink inscription from a Dr. W.Stuart Carnes which reads, "I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed being with the author. (Took) Willard on four expeditions into the land of Romance and Mystery of the Mayas - Yucatan. I have also enjoyed many happy hours with Edwardo H.Thompson in which he related to me his experience and adventures including his discovery of "The Sacred Well". It is signed, Stuart Carnes. Below that is "PS I have beads, jade & other articles taken from "The Sacred Well". The inscription takes up 2/3 of the title page. Also, laid-in loose at the rear is a double sided flyer advertising Dr. Carnes Lecture on the Mayas. The flyer was at one time glued along one edge and tiped in at the rear endpaper, but the glue has since dissolved leaving a light brown outline on the flyer and endpaper. In a VG dj that has several short edge tears and frays, mostly to the upper edge. An interesting association copy by a close friend and fellow of archeologist Carnes, this Historical adventure novel contains some elements of the Fantastic.
